Blogging

This would be the second blog that I have created using blogger.com. This was a small one I created on gaming in education that I later used for a paper. I had to produce one in another class. Personally, I do not feel the need to blog, but I do appreciate those who do, especially when it come to reviews on educational material. I think that in higher grades, bloggiong is useful to promote discussion and to enable learners to have a voice in an atmosphere that they are comfortable.
I think blogging was easy to do, but time-consuming. You also need to have your facts straight and present a blog that is trustworthy, useful, and follows guidelines and netiquette. I think that if I felt confident that I had enough knowledge to offer on a subject that others might benefit from and I had time on my hands, I just might start one!

  1. I think the reasons for blogging or not blogging you discussed here sound very reasonable, and agree that students in higher grades may benefit more.

  2. Yes, this may be an option if I were still teaching at Keystone, but it is a good resource to know about and to know how to use for the future and for other aspects I may encounter in my career.

  3. I agree with a lot of your statement. You say "I think that in higher grades, bloggiong is useful to promote discussion and to enable learners to have a voice in an atmosphere that they are comfortable". I think that you are right, but I also think that if there was a private discussion board it could serve the same purpose. I just worry that my opinion is out there for the whole world and not just those involved.

  4. Although I have seen teachers use blogging for upper elementary students, I think it would be difficult for younger elementary to blog. Their vocabulary/spelling ability might hinder their ability to write. However, we should not underestimate what our students can accomplish.
